German Manga / Germanga

Germanga & Germangaka

The term “Germanga” (original German language Manga) is not that common in Germany. Most German comic artist who draw Manga prefer to be referred to as German Manga artists or even just comic artists. Many of them will actually wrinkle their noses if you address them as Germangaka or call their comics Germanga. Anyway, when it comes to conversations or discussions, I realized that calling them “Germanga” or “German Mangaka”/”Germangaka” is much more handy than referring to them as “(German language) comic artist inspired by japanese comic styles” or “(German language) comics drawn by artists inspired by japanese comic styles” over and over again. Greetings to my German speaking colleagues, please forgive me, referring to your works as “Germanga” - and worse: to you as “Germangaka”.

On this blog, I gather information on (original) German (language) Manga and their creators.

An incomplete alphabetical List of (Original) German (Language) Mangaka and their works will follow soon.
